I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
This is a chilling volume that proves that the Joker is Batman's most dangerous enemy. He earns that dubious title, by proving that he will do anything to destroy Batman. He works for it, and while he understand how Batman thinks, he doesn't show his own hand.
Every time you think that Batman has the upper hand, everything is pulled out from underneath him to the Joker's advantage. Batman's family begins bickering and the divides that they create amongst themselves is all by Joker's design.
Joker rallies the Arkham inmates, while manipulating everyone else around him as well. Like I said, it's chilling and it's fantastic, and I hope to read more of this volume in the future.
