I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Well, all women creative team. That is - this is the first Transformers graphic novel written by a woman. The artist is also a woman. It stars a female Transformer, as well. And it's sexy as hell: it takes the conflict on Cybertron and heightens it.
And I did not see that ending coming.
Sarah Stone's Starscream? *fans self* I love the art, I just love it, and I usually don't like the more human type Cybertronians. Stone has a sleek, stylized style that is just mindblowingly good.
And Mairghead Scott is a fantastic writer who knows her Transformers. Then again, seeing as she worked on Prime, she should. And I can't complain. It was just absolutely fantastic. This mini-series focuses on Windblade, and of course Metroplex since she's his voice-speaker. He calls her Wind-voice which I find so adorable!
It also focuses on her bodyguard Chromia, and Starscream. And you know I like Starscream! Chromia is pretty badass, although my perception of her changed through the mini-series. (I'm still holding out for Chromia/Ironhide. I don't care that it doesn't make that much sense in this continuity. I know that they hate each other, but I'm pretending that's sexual tension and not them actually wanting to kill each other. Or at least that Windblade is worried that Chromia actually did kill Ironhide at one point!)
There's a mystery, the same politics that are present throughout Robots in Disguise, and it all melds seamlessly. Humor, action, the sexy... this creative team brings it all.
