I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Money spent repairing the tire? $0.00.
So, showing Doug - yeah, I know the guys at the tire place 'cos my whole family goes there, and we've gone there for years - my tire in the trunk, I saw the rim was a bit shredded on the side and cringed.
I'd been convincing myself that I wouldn't need a new tire, and I told Doug that now I wouldn't be surprised if I needed a new rim. He was optimistic and said, 'let's see what we can do.' Because the tread was wearing thin on my dad's tires, and I might have had to spring for a four tire set -_- Which they might not have had in stock just then. So, yeah, I was like, fantastic!
A little while later he comes out, looking shocked, saying the tire can be fixed. No new rim, no new tire, and he said it looked like it popped out of the rim because someone fiddled around with the valve and unscrewed it. He joked that he'd check the others for $100 for valve, and I was so shocked, I asked if that was really the price. He laughed and said no.
I always check to make sure I need to pay - for a lot of stuff there, you don't if you bought the tires from them. We always do. No charge for the fix because we bought the tires there.
YAY!
This was totally me:
