I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Storm Front, while a good start to a series, has it's issues, at least for me. Like it dragged at some parts, particularly when Harry was thinking about how crappy he had some things, or how he felt so badly about things that weren't really his fault. It could kind of go on for a page or two, and I'd be left thinking, 'alright, get over the mope and get on with it already.'
That being said, I've heard a lot about how this series gets better later - the third or fourth novel seems to be the general consensus - and I hear that Harry gets more likable, or likable at all. I felt kind of neutral towards him, to be honest. I didn't particularly like him, nor did I particularly dislike him. I do hope that he becomes more likable in the future.
The thing is that the mystery, the action, and the banter seem to be Butcher's strong suit, at least right now. When the story moved, it just really, really moved, and although I didn't see anything particularly revolutionary as far as the fantasy goes, it was entertaining enough that I'm glad I have the next six.
Just not going to read them right now. I need a small break from the slight mopey of Harry Dresden right now.
