I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Windblade 1 Review...

Transformers: Windblade #1 - Mairghread Scott;Sarah Stone;Casey W. Coller

This might vie for my favorite title along with MTMtE.   Partly because women creators, and a female Cybertonian lead, but beyond that?   It's fun.   It may not be as dense, or as thought-provoking as Roberts work, but this is just fun.   It's a quick read in which Starscream is just pinned down completely - his narcissism, his megalomania, everything. He's dangerous, he's feared, and he's... adorable!   I wanna cuddle with him!

There's a simplistic, stylized art to this that makes the Cybertronians anthropomorphized, which is usually not my thing.   I normally, in fact, get irritated with this.   I don't know if it's the whimsy, the charmingly sweet, way in which Sarah Stone illustrates this mini-series that has captivated me or what, but it has!   Very much so.   In fact, I find Starscream, and Ironhide, and Windblade far more attractive in this one issue so far, because they are, in fact, very obviously not human.   (It's the face, and the facial expression, that makes them more human.  I don't have a problem with that, it's the body that I don't particularly like in humans, so...)

There's also a hint of Chromia/Ironhide, even though they don't meet.   Chromia calls Ironhide 'mopey', and groans about having to go see him, and it's just cute.   I love Ironhide/Chromia, and it's one of the only hetero Transformer ships that I do ship.   It's also one of the handful of canon pairings that I ship.

Love, love, love, love!

PS - I'll do a whole review when the series is complete, so in four months.  Just wanted to get some of my initial impressions down.
