I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I'm not a huge fan of serials, but I downloaded this because it's a Ray Garton and it was free.
To be honest, it's intriguing, and there's a diverse cast of characters, all of whom are pulled into the plot in a logical manner. However, I would much prefer just have a story told all at once. I just do. I want to pay for it once, and read it all at once.
Instead, I feel... strung along by this type of serial. And having read another one of Garton's works, one that was written as a complete story, I feel like this suffers from serialization. He tries to spin a web around a larger cast, and it feels a little disjointed with the snorter chapters, and skipping from one character to another between the chapters. It just didn't hold up as well as when the story was told all together.
Given the fact that this did intrigue me, and I enjoy Garton's writing, though, I would consider buying this when it was sold as a whole.
