I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Transformers: The Covenant of Primus Deluxe Hc - Justina Robson

Wow!   They perceive gender in a completely different way, and one that ties into Jhiaxus and what he did to Arcee in the IDW universe.  (He made her 'female' and she had two sensory inputs, 'male'/'female' which was driving her crazy.)   In this, they say that there isn't a female/male body structure, but rather the 'male'/'female' way of viewing things - they process information differently.   Not only that, but before contact with gendered aliens, they only had one pronoun, so there was less distinction between 'male' and 'female'.

Let's add to that the fact that of the Thirteen Primes, all were 'male' except Solus Prime, who created anything - whole suits of armor with one strike of the Forge of Solus Prime, her hammer - using the Creation Lathe.   (By the way, these special tools are super special, and each of the Thirteen wields one or two, at least so far.   Each has at least one, two may be the maximum.   They're all capitalized in the book, too.)   Here's a quote about Solus and the Creation Lathe: "It is widely supposed among the remaining Primes that this difference was necessary for Solus herself to operate the Creation Lathe, which required a vast capacity for wide-ranging and parallel through processing."

Also, the hammer wasn't that great in itself.  "On its own, the Forge was a poor instrument, able to create, to mend, to smash to oblivion whatever it touched.   Rather, it was the Lathe, and Solus herself, who supplied the vision and labor behind its action."

I kinda love that other Primes came to her for their stuff.

I also love that they give a male:female ratio.   Humans - 1:1, Cybertonians - 1:12.   Of course, this makes sense, as it fits the ratio of the Thirteen.   Also, Trion apologizes if females are offended that their pronoun is, "applied to the less-numerous types of Cybertronian."

Not at all, Trion, not at all.   You're all super-hot, no matter what gender you call yourselves, if you feel the need to separate gender at all.  (PS - they do it for our convenience, which is thoughtful if you ask me.   And not making them less hot.)
