I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Well, it just took me what, ten years to finish this book. And while the writing no longer makes me shake, or gives me horrible migraines, I didn't think it was fantastic. The story is okay. The characters are okay. It's sort of a middle of the road thing for me at this point.
Which explains why I'm like four weeks behind my Harry Potter group read. I just couldn't get all that into it, and read it straight through. And while stuff like Quidditch is well through out, there's nothing that I can see that's horribly creative in a 'I can't get enough way'. I have Kadrey for that in fantasy, thank you very much. (He's clever, and hilarious, too. And oh my god, his use of language is just fucking orgasmic. I seriously need to reread the Sandman Slim series.)
Eeeeeh. I'll try to catch up on the group read, but I'm not super excited or anything. Onto The Chamber of Secrets.
