I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Jaq D. Hawkins apparently thinks I'm a dick.
Fair enough. Her books seem to approve getting a man drunk enough that he can't tell if he's slept with a man or woman, and rationalizing this rape by going, 'hey, well, he orgasmed, so... it's all good, right?'
There was also some weird-ass poison-rape, which was also okay for reasons I can't remember. (Ruffies are apparently awesome. I still disagree.)
I was also told I wouldn't get her story because I'm not the kind of reader she's looking for. Which is odd, because she was ragging on me reading Wolverine and Buffy stories. Acceptance of others who are different are major themes in those; it is also the main theme of the book of hers I read. My reading material suggests that I'm open to her themes.
I'm not open to the suggestion that rape is okay, and if the writing is as poor as it is in her novel, I'm not going to keep my mouth shut. If that makes me a dick in her book, fine. I'm okay with that.
