I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I've purged the pages on my BL, to focus on my newest projects for 2019, which I expect to pretty much fail at. My jam seems to be spreading myself too thin and just reading a fraction of each project, but diversifying this way.
So new projects:
1. IDW Transforers re-read with Jessica. I'm going to get you through the whole series, all four this time. I swear it. This will be the year, because holy crap, the end of Lost Light.
2. Keep up with my weekly comics.
3. Am Yisrael Chai. I will read more on Israel, including from the Palestinian side. My friend got me the Lady in Gold, about art stolen from a Jewish family during the Holocaust and I have books on the Mossad. Basically, it says Israel, but anything Jewish will be under this, I just am a hardcore Zionist, so my Jewish reading will most likely be tied up in Israel.
4. Torah project. I want to read at least three different versions of the Torah and I own three, and have Robert Alter's epic three volume set coming. One of the volumes I own is an app with the JPS version, so yay!
5. Haggadah project. I want to read at least twenty different Haggadah's, including Jonathan Safran Foer's New American Haggadah. These are pretty easy reads.
6. AI/robot project. Yeah, cyborgs will count if I think there's enough emphasis on the tech. Synthezoids like Viv Vision count.
7. Blindness project. I want to slowly continue along with this. It's kinda dead, and I want to bring it back.
8. French reading project. This one is super dead, but I want to read much more in French.
9. Pot project. Now that pot is legal in my state, I want to read up on pot. I'm basically clueless so if anyone has any good reads, let me know. I will consider fiction, but I'd like to read one or two non-fiction books on pot.
10. Media-tie ins. I enjoy these. I want to read more.
So, here's the deal: books can belong in one or more categories. If I read a Robocop tie-in or the Bumblebee comic prequel, that can count in two categories. (Robocop would be AI/robot project and media tie-in, while Bee would count as keeping up with comics - in this case part of the backlog I have going, my AI/robot project and as a media tie-in. The IDW Transformers comics will not count as media tie-ins; they are related to some degree on the old TV show, but are really their own continuity. So things that might seem weird will actually be playing by these rules I have in my head.) The reason things can count for two categories is I mostly want to keep track of how many books I read in each category so they will be lists on the pages/blog posts - maybe both, maybe a list in Pages, something like that. I will start the blog post/page on the side of my blog when I start these.
And I left most counts blank. Yeah, I'd like to read a couple books at least in each category, but depending on my moods, how much may change. I do want to get serious about the Torahs and Haggadah readings so thus the numbers. It's also hard to calculate keeping up with weekly comics based on what I buy, what gets cancelled or started up in the year, etc, so there's that. Let's see what's what with these.
