24th footnote: "There are limits to what we can find funny. Charlie Chaplin said of his 1940 satire of Hitler, The Great Dictator: 'Had I known the actual horrors of the German concentration camps, I could not have made The Great Dictator. I could not have made fun of the homicidal insanity of the Nazis.'"
Props to Chaplin. I've never been a Chaplin fan, as his movies tend not to appeal to me. I respect him greatly for this quote, however. I may not be a fan of his movies, but it turns out I am a fan of Chaplin the man after all.
