I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I've read this before, but in a collection. (I own it that way and I wouldn't have reread it like this - but it came free on Comixology and I wanted to revisit this. I remember it being one of Furman's strongest Spotlights.)
And it was. It was completely natural in progression, the characters were clear cut, and full, and I loved how he balanced the action and the more contemplative parts. It tells the story of how Ore-13 came onto Earth, although no one knows this yet. It also tells the story of the Dynobots, how they found him on Earth and why they have a problem with Shockwave in particular.
It all comes to a head in an explosive, and unexpected manner. Neither Shockwave nor the Dynobots expect their enemy to respond as they do, and it sets the scene for Maximum Dinobots, which comes about much later.
