Deadpool and his robot friend try to save their families. It’s going to be interesting seeing who Deadpool had to call for help, and how he’s not asking for payment immediately. That will, undoubtedly, come into play later. I’m also wondering if Stryfe has anything to do, or will have anything to do, with what Cable had to do in the most recent Uncanny Avengers.
This gets pretty serious. Oh, there are jokes, but this all about Deadpool trying to find the person who tried to murder his daughter. Oh, right, and Preston’s family, too. So he’s pretty focused on that instead of quips.
And I find that the emotional aspect to these recent stories remind me that Duggan is really good at keeping Deadpool his wiseass self, but also add that much needed connection. I feel he’s more relatable: instead of being someone I just laughed at, someone I enjoyed seeing running around and killing people and stuffing his face with tacos and waffles and chimichangas, I feel more for him.
Love, love, love this direction! The storyline is wrapped up enough to have Deadpool 2099 storyline next, I believe, so hopefully in two months, they’ll get back to Deadpool and Ellie and Preston. They normally do with 2099, with one issue in the future and then right back to the present, so I don’t think I’m being too unrealistic to hope for that this time again.
