I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Peter Quill is abandoned by, well, everyone. Trapped on Earth, the guardians - or ex-gaurdians, I guess - have to find their own way. I'm only really interested in one series: Rocket. I was hoping that, as usual, Groot would tag along. So far, this is really just Rocket on Earth.
And Rocket hates Earth. He's confused, he finds everyone disgusting, he doesn't get the customs and the technology is horribly outdated to him. It's hell. Not on Earth: life on Earth itself is hell.
Despite his hate, he helps a homeless man get food. He's a good guy, even if his armor is a little shiny. He swears, he relies on violence, and guns, a lot. He's willing to steal. He's not a boy scout, far from it, and therein lies his charm.
He's also super funny. Poor Rocket, unable to get off Earth. He does get a helping hand at the end, and I didn't expect this hero to come to his rescue. Said hero tells Rocket to make the most of his situation.
Rocket decides to try and get off Earth, though. And it's that old Parker luck rubbing off on Rocket somehow. Everyone here knew trying to get off Earth, although it's supposedly impossible right now, wouldn't go to plan, right?
