I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I got this in a grab bag, but it was one of the two - out of ten - issues I could see. I wanted what was on the back, and these have been pretty much quality items, so I decided to risk it. I also got this for about a buck instead of five, so...
That being said, I knew I wasn't crazy about crossovers in general, and while Civil War grew on me during the second reading, still not a favorite read of mine. And this was pretty much what I thought, except that while Civil War - the original - felt like it was all about freedom versus security and had broader themes, this one felt more like a pinpoint: it was about whether or not you can Minority Report someone, basically. Civil War managed to feel more timely, more relevant, and more interesting.
I found myself thinking that everyone seemed more petty in this issue, and I think Civil War II is not for me.
Oddly enough, we're two events/crossovers beyond now: Death of X and IvX. I missed Death of X, figuring it would be all X-Men and Inhumans are my jam right now. I figured there would be no Black Bolt, or Reader, and it turns out something massive happened with Black Bolt. (I spoiled myself and am now kicking myself for not reading it!)
I'm reading IvX figuring Black Bolt would be part of that - and he is in a pretty big way. Didn't enjoy zero and I did enjoy one - proving that crossovers and events can charm me. (Of course, IvX is co-written by Charles Soule and Jeff Lemeire, two of my favorite writers, so I'm not so surprised I enjoy it.)
