I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Ghost Rider was about vengeance, and Punisher is about Punishment: they aren't series about sociopaths with no restraint. Same for Dexter, and as such all three fulfill revenge fantasies in a purely fictional - and safe - environment. As the reader, I'm allowed to explore my own dark thoughts without acting on them. Since I wouldn't anyway, especially in the violent manner these men do, I'm left with an uncomfortable space in my head. The Rider, The Punisher, and Dexter act as a sort of catharsis for all this.
Carnage is just repulsive, and as such, I find I feel nothing but disgust for him. And it's, quite frankly, not enough to keep me that interested. I am, however, interested in the Evil Dead meets alien symbiote aspect now, so I'm going to keep going.
