Grimlock ♥ Ultra Magnus

I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Thanks for the Money: How to Use My Life Story to Become the Best Joel McHale You Can Be - Joel McHale

Not even gonna lie: this is disappointing.  I picked up Bryan Cranston's memoir and this based on me loving their shows.   Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking bad for Cranston and Community for McHale, and this book.

The humor is really, really forced.   Like super forced.   And while I laughed out loud once or twice, mostly I can see the desperation: McHale wants to be funny, and he makes it look like he's trying.   Instead, I end up feeling.... sad.   Like I want to laugh because I can see he's trying so hard to make me laugh, but it's just so sad how hard he's trying that I end up really wanting to give him a hug.

And I'm not 'hate reading' this.  I really thought it would be genuinely hilarious: what I've seen of him is just that funny.

On the other side of things, Cranston's biography started out strong and is boring me.   This one is, at least, a quick read.
