I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Moon Knight (2016-) #1 - Greg Smallwood, Jeff Lemire

This is an interesting take on Marc Spector and Moon Knight: while his mental state has been in question for a long time, this series takes everything a step further.   How unstable is he?   Is his life as Marc Spector even real or is this all an illusion?

See, he's been passed down the title of Moon Knight by an Egyptian god named Khonshu.      Khonshu is someone only Spector seems to see or hear, and is a voice in his head who tells him when you to use violence against people.   Wrongdoers, but still, it sounds like he might be a mental health diagnosis in waiting when stripped down.   He's been shown as weak which is why Khonshu says he chose him as his weak mind makes him easier to control.   All of this sounds like a disaster - unless Khonshu and his avatar, The Moon Knight, is real.

When Spector finds himself in a mental institution, he has to figure out which of his lives are real.   It's subversive, has very little actual fighting, and feels like a faster read than something this smart, elegant, and talk-y should.   Then again, the lustrous art helps.
