I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Even as Batman pulls this mystery together, or begins to, the Psycho Pirate is let loose on both Gotham and Gotham Girl and he takes it far worse than she does. Gotham is scared out of her mind and unable to function, while Gotham's anger is fueled and he goes on a rampage.
There is a lot of destruction due to heavy action scenes, but this series continues to be propelled forward by how the characters act. Talking things out, which Batman would prefer to do in this case, does not work with Gotham, however, so something will have to give.
The humor is shed a little as this gets serious, but I didn't even notice when reading this, only when looking back. This needed to get sober to match the story arc, and it works here.
