I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Who are Gotham and Gotham Girl, the two new heroes who follow Batman's lead even though they have the power of Superman himself? All the backstory is told here, and it makes their banter and bickering make even more sense to me.
It also makes a lot of sense in why they want to be heroes, and why they look up to Batman so much. They are a version of Batman where his parents didn't get killed because Batman was there to save them.
And how their stories diverge is interesting. It's also nice to see them rely on studies and intellect even with their metahuman abilities. Furthermore, I'm glad to see they aren't copycats of Batman: he is clearly more experienced and was even at their age. They might try to be Batman, but they are, in fact, not Bruce Wayne.
A lot of character building going on here, and I'm willing to see where King takes this beyond issue seven - and was even at this point.
