I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
There is a sale on Comixology that's all about rebirth - and it's pre-rebirth issues - and this is the last issue on sale. I didn't splurge beyond this, although I did pick up Black Canary because it's by the same author. (While I bought issue two in a grab bag, I'm going to reread it digitally. I didn't rate it highly and I wonder if I'll feel differently after blowing through this, and reading issue one, which I also picked up with the last of my Apple settlement money.)
This is a great issue: Babs' schoolwork is all about sociology and using tech, and programs, to help map neighborhoods, and it's being used against her - or more accurately to help the Gotham City PD (GCPD). People spoke to her on the condition of anonymity. Saying that their family members, for example, were in gangs was privileged information, and they only said so because they were assured that no one would go to the police.
When the police start using her information against those she promised to protect, Batgirl has to bet involved. She calls upon not only Frankie, but Spoiler, to help her infiltrate the GCPD, where she finds out that it is apparently she herself who has snitched on everyone. Is she having memory holes due to the stress? Or is she being manipulated? She's not sure she can trust herself anymore, and she knows she can't trust the GCPD after speaking to her father.
I'm almost willing to crack and splurge on the rest of the series. I kinda really want to know what happens next. I may wait and see if this goes on sale in the near future, though. I figure I'll at least try to get a handle on my Comixology TBR list before I hit purchase.
