I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I love Kamala Khan. And having read issues two and three of this series - fabulous issues in their own right - it was nice being able to dive into the full setup of this series. Especially what's going on with Bruno.
See, Bruno has a new girlfriend, Michaela, or Mike for short. She's a little overweight, and Kamala is mostly upset because she likes Bruno, just let him go because she didn't think they'd work. She loved him enough to admit that.
So at one point, she lashes out, using Mike's weight as cannon fodder. Bruno comes back with this:
It's nice to see him call out Kamala, and defend Mike. Kamala knows it was wrong, too, and concedes to that immediately. Instead of turning all drama like, or pitting the two women against each other, it's used as a mistake, one made in a moment of extreme emotion, and as a way for Kamala to voice what's really bothering her. She's not perfect, but she wants to do good, she tries, and she admits to wrong when she slips up. In a way, this makes her more endearing: yeah, she fucked up, but it only served to show what a good person she was in how she dealt with that fuck up.
Loving this series so, so much.
