I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I love this author's work. And the art is absolutely stunning, and the style compliments the storyline perfectly. It was also an old west werewolf story and how can you not love that?
I did. It started out as a five star read, but I had a couple issues, partly because I have read other works by this author that felt a little tighter with better world building. Those are pretty much my issues: this starts out strong, and everything is taut and it seems to be a pretty straightforward storyline. Except I never really got a full sense of how werwolves worked in here - which is honestly the part of the world building I thought needed more attention. And plots weave in and out, except I'm left wondering about a couple of them, and it made me feel as they had dangling storylines. Or maybe I just liked a couple of the characters enough that I wanted to see more of them. (I did enjoy so many of the characters, and that's a plus for this. The storylines were interesting, even if I got confused as to how some of this world worked, and I thought the characters were fantastic. I had a couple favorites, and one of them was a character that I felt deserved more of a solid ending to his storyline.)
Speaking of favorite characters:

I want a series about Tristan!
Overall, I enjoyed this more than I felt I had complaints about this collection, so I kinda decided three and a half. I'd read more of this, but I'd also hold out hope that the storylines didn't feel like they were quite so dangling.
