I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I love you but this. This right here.
And let's get this straight: Hydra has Nazi roots. As was pointed out, if Hydra are not Nazi's - and that seems like semantics at best - they were Nazi equivalents. They were created based on the fear of Nazi's by Jewish creators. (Much like Dalek's were influenced by the Nazi parties. One can easily argue that Dalek's aren't Nazis because they aren't, but if you look at the parallels, the need to exterminate everything that isn't perfect, even the way they 'dress' - identical - it's hard not to see how they act as Nazi equivalents in the Doctor Who universe.)
Hydra was a way for Nazis to fit into the Marvel universe: super villains who weren't called Nazis, but, let's face it, they were the Dalek's of the Marvel universe. It was, in short, a way for Cap to punch more Nazi's in the face.
I'm disgusted. I'm going to post the spoilers behind a page break.
Troy has claimed that Captain America was the only Marvel character he could see fit into the Justice League. No more, not since he's become a HYDRA agent. The Justice League wouldn't take him anymore, not if he were the last superhero alive in both their universes.
So good job. Argue all you want that Cap is not a Nazi. His mother indoctrinated him? Well, into being a Nazi equivalent. Cap is, and apparently has been, a Nazi equivalent forever. (Which makes him punching Hitler in the face so, so weird now, instead of 'yay, awesome!')
Also, I'm tired of people who say 'you whine this is anti-semitic because the story doesn't give you what you want.' That's true I guess, but what I wanted was for Cap not to be anti-semitic/a Nazi equivalent, so in this case I'm whining because of the anti-semitic content and storyline. I don't whine that it shouldn't be that way; it already is when I get the content. I do bitch about it if it's anti-semitic, that is true.
