I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

I'm going to do what was started with TBR Thursday - but on Wednesday for new comics I get.

General Thoughts:

It's an all Marvel day, although that's not surprising.  I subscribe to Marvel and IDW titles - and those IDW titles are all Transformers.  The tie-in to the TV show Robots in Disguise (RiD) seems to not be in publication anymore, Til All Are One hasn't been started up yet - I need to subscribe to that - and other than that it's two main series - More Than Meets the Eye (MTMtE) and Transformers.   Deviations was a one-shot, and Sins of the Wreckers is a mini-series, with 4 out of 5 being published.  In addition, the publication is so sporadic I've wondered if they stopped mid-series before.   (It's happened before: RiD was promising another issue, that seemed to never have come about.   War Within was cancelled because the company went out of business, but it still left Transformers fans hanging.)

Thoughts about individual issues:

Rocket Raccoon and Groot:

Rocket is always a delight, and while I tend to enjoy him more than Groot, Groot is both growing on me, and I'm finding I like them both better together than alone.   Each one manages to bring out the best in each other, and that's always charming to see.   (And Groot is the better half.   Definitely Groot.   The first couple issues of this series proves that.)

I'm looking forward to this issue.

Spider-Gwen:

This is a nice, self-referential series.   From fridging Parker for Gwen (Gwen was originally fridged for Parker) to this cover which reminds me of this Ultimate Spider-Man cover:

Which references this panel:

There's a lot going on for those who know Marvel.  Regardless, this is a nice addition to Marvel's female leads, and all of them tend to be full and rich characters.   It's just another reason to applaud how diverse they're getting, and I do believe it's paying off for them.   I've seen a lot of praise, but don't really pay attention to their sales.  I  can't imagine it's this good and getting this much buzz and not selling, though.

Daredevil/Punisher:

My one digital-only purchase.   These just are slicker in digital format.   All the Infinite comics are.   They do a lot to play around with a new medium, and they do it well.   I get a little fangirl squeal when I see a new Daredevil/Punisher: Seventh Circle, and it's not just because it plays around with what the digital can do for comics.   The art is spectacular, and Soule nails Daredevil - and Punisher.   He makes this exciting, and brings an understanding of the characters that is just sublime.   Love it.

The Punisher:

I bought this for a variety of reasons: it's the first time I can remember a woman writing an ongoing Punisher title, she's the only woman writing a male lead of the current Marvel series, and I absolutely love The Punisher.   While I'm not a fan of this artist in general, I did enjoy his run on The Punisher earlier.   His style just fits Castle, and The Punisher.

I'm excited, but I've never read anything by this author, not really, and I wasn't a fan of Gotham Academy.   So, I'm holding off judgement until I read this.   If I like it, I'll probably subscribe.

All-New Inhumans:

Hey, I just remembered: this isn't the series with a bunch of Medusa/Human Torch.   That's just Uncanny Inhumans next time around.   So both more excited for this, and sad about that happening.   (The couple seems creepy, and shoe-horned in just because Medusa needed a boy toy.   Did you have to choose her sister's ex, while she's working closely with Crystal who is roaming the world, helping Nu-Humans?   And I love how neither Crystal nor Medusa really talk about it, they just kinda ignore that Medusa is going for sloppy seconds.   Weird, weird, weird.  Then again, Medusa was like, damn, I think I'm gonna go after my first cousin when she was in her teens, so... not sure I trust her taste in men anyway.)

I can't remember what this issue is about, but just yay for it not being more creeptastic Marvel "sexytimes."

Although I don't know if one quotation mark is enough.   I feel like ""sexytimes"" might be more appropriate to convey my 'ugh wit that already.'
