I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
If anyone's interested in what that's in reference to, Troy and I were talking about how powerful Dr. Fate used to be versus how powerful he is now in the comments to my review of issue one.
So far, it seems like they're building him up into the powerhouse he was originally. He does come off as less powerful in some ways - but Kahlid Nassour is a boy, and has just been given his power and his path. He hasn't trained for this, and doesn't know what to do with either his power or path. And it shows, at least at the beginning. He makes mistakes, ones that cost lives, and they come back to haunt him, sometimes in overly blunt ways. He's also gaining a sense of purpose, and a sense of what he can do, and I would argue any lack of power is an illusion caused by Khalid's inexperience.
It's exciting to think about where this might go - and I'm going to find out. I'm just trying to decide if I want to read this or Midnighter more. I mean, I love this series - but a character. With a supercomputer in his head.
