I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
"But it needed to be more than just this... whatever this was, it simply needed to be more."
And this pretty much is a microcosm of this book. A little bland, and not quite as descriptive as it could be to really put me into this story.
So far I find the dialogue to be stilted, and the characters uninteresting. Much like this sentence, nothing horribly mangled, nothing hilarious like I'd hoped given the description, so I'm just plodding along. May or may not try to finish this, but I'm tempted to just read something better at this point.
"When she had attended to all the customers, eaters and drinkers alike..."
Nope, nope, nope.
I'm out.
