I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
And I'm half poking-my-tongue out, because I actually enjoyed this crossover. I don't enjoy many of them: they seem like money grabs, not that clever, or stretched out beyond belief. Secret War was a bit lengthy, and yeah, it was a money grab, but I could forgive that since the concept was so simple and neat: what if Skrulls impersonated heroes to take down our world from within? It had creepy angles, like if Medusa couldn't tell the Black Bolt imposter apart - her first cousin/husband who she's loved since childhood - who could you trust? Not the man you spoke for, you interpreted, you knew so intimately. Not the person who slept in your bed for years.
Maybe not your best friend or neighbor.
Not only that, it was a long game for the Skrulls, so, yeah, it seemed fair to dedicate a bit of time to fleshing out why now. Or to how the Marvel-verse dealt with this, because it had some pretty shattering implications.
So, yes, I enjoyed Secret Invasion. And I enjoy most of Bendis' stuff. This, though, seemed rather bland. I was also promised Daredevil and got Skrull-Cyclops-Daredevil guy in like three panels.
I didn't absolutely hate it, but I sure didn't love it either.
