DD holds off The Purple's Man psychic hold because he can't see him, and wraps him up to stop  him.

According to the Marvel Wikia, these are The Purple Man's powers:

^{Sound and Pheromones?    Quite frankly, it sounds like poor Matt would be more susceptible and not less.  Not to mention wrapping him up wouldn't stop him if it was based on vocal suggestions.   I would buy that Matt has a stronger force of will than most - he does - and that held off The Purple Man.   But still?  Wrapping him up in a flag wouldn't help.}
