I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I think I was just expecting a huger bang for the finale, and was let down by that. Especially after the last, epic crossover volume, this felt like maybe it wasn't sure where to end. Although, to be fair, it was hobbled by the not-as-epic Black Vortex crossover, which fell flat for me, as well in general.
That being said, the action and humor are here, and the last issue brings up a couple really good, though provoking questions about mutants and their place in the current Marvel universe. But they also don't even really try to answer how that will work out, so I was left hanging a bit.
And why is Iceman gay now? I was looking forward to seeing how they handled it. So heavy handed. Ugh. I'm all for more diversity and LGTBQI characters. I loved it when Northstar married his boyfriend.
This was just done in an uncharacteristically awkward way. Really, Bendis? Okay, then.
Onto more Bendis goodness, though.
