I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Elephantmen are human/elephant hybrids, although there are more than one kind in this. This, however, revolves around Information Officers, a human (Jack Farrell) who is paired up with an elephantman (Hieronymus - Hip - Flask). Since the transgenics such as elephantmen are considered second class citizens, there are bound to be issues.
When they end up investigating the murder of scientists, it's not this that is the crux of their story, however. Jack is seeing his dead girlfriend, a woman he killed in a jealous rage when she said she was seeing someone else. And the hallucinations simply proceed to get more odd.
While everything tied up at the end, I was left in awe: this is all really sick, all tied together, and it had my stomach in knots wondering how things would turn out and what would happen to everyone.
I really want to read the next volume.
