Grimlock ♥ Ultra Magnus

I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

The story of Timely ends!

1872 #4 - Jesus Aburtov, Nicole Virella, Gerry Duggan, Leonard Kirk

And it's a shame.  I think I'd read a monthly about this town, about the characters displaced in this timeline.  Just like I'd read a monthly Attilan Rising series.

Alas, they were only meant to last for four or five issues.   And this fourth is amazing.   The end of last issue was exciting, with Bruce Banner being tormented, with the promise of the Hulk.   This issue delivered.   Not in the way I expected, but it still gave made me clap my hands in joy.

And not only that, it continued to include new versions of characters I loved.  Deadpool and Punisher would be on this list.

Oh, yes!   Unfortunately, this is the only panel that he graces.   There could be a lot done with him, I think, although of course the Weapon X programming and regenerative factor do not apply.   There's only so much science can do in 1872, after all, and there's no mention of Logan - which is where he got his healing factor after all.   (To those who aren't aware, it was basically grafted from Logan to Wade.  Not sure how that works, exactly, but apparently a mutant gift can be grafted onto someone else.   It worked with Red Skull, but he had to literally graft Xavier's brain onto his own which made little more sense to me.   Where exactly does a healing factor reside?   I don't know, but the scientists at the Weapon X program do!)

This had all the warmth and humor I came to expect from this series.

More than anything, I think it's telling that I want to read more by this author after reading this.  I'm craving it so badly I can't tell you.  Luckily, I took a lot more out by him from the library.   Yay!
