I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
What the fuck, Hickman? Why did this have to be a painful 680+ pages? Thank Primus the version I got from my library simply didn't have the extra two issues. I don't give enough of a fuck to get them any other way, especially since they're digital only and issue one isn't available. Yay! I don't have to feel bad about not getting it. I don't care; the paperback didn't have them, and that's good enough for me.
Yay, yay, yay. I don't want to read one more twenty-five page issue of this convoluted bullshit, much less two issues. And please, keep in mind that I've loved some of Hickman's other stuff. But not this. Never this.
Thanos is trying to kill all of his children. I guess the real problem is he hasn't really kept track of which women he's impregnated. Races, yes, but not the particular women. And he certainly hasn't kept track of the progeny that's giving him nightmares. And it's totally easier to kill off every single child in the, y'know, age range out of every race. If he's banged one of your women, prepare, for your children shall all die - because they might be one of his!
I just can't even with this storyline. Let's also, like, forget that other worlds are colliding with ours and all the universes are going to die. Yeah, forget about that, because that's clearly not as imporant as, y'know, this adventure with Thanos and the Builders.
Y'know what, have some Black Bolt moments, because they were the only reason I finished reading this, really.
Yes, I do have a hurt comfort thing. I was hoping something like this would happen next, too:
Also, Thanos had sex with an Inhuman woman. So, he asks for his tribute: the heads of all the Inhuman children who are within an age range. Black Bolt is given time to give his answer and he says this:
I really don't undersetand so much of this. How Black Bolt believed that his actions were going to lead to anything good, but apparently he was right. I just really don't quite understand.
Did he know what Thane would become, then? How can he? No one knows what Terrigenesis will bring, and yet that seemed to be the winning moment, the need to know: what Thane will become.
Regardless, there were a lot of good moments with Black Bolt. Not enough to save this whole mess that made, like, zero sense. But some good moments. Two stars for Black Bolt kicking some major ass.
No stars for the rest of this bullshit.
