Grimlock ♥ Ultra Magnus

I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Hilarious, meta fun!

Marvel: Now What? #1 - Sara Schaefer, Scott Adsit, Wyatt Cenac, Brian Posehn, Skottie Young

Marvel has a storied history of poking their tongue out at themselves.   Deadpool, and how meta he gets, some What If? parodies that are pretty much this exact thing and parody their work.   They get really self-referential when you can't find a page on their website.

So, yeah, they have a history of doing this.   And it's nice, for a couple reasons: it acknowledges plotholes, or issues, but also makes you laugh when you think about them. It lessens the blow.   And it makes me feel as if they don't take themselves so seriously.   Obviously they don't, but it's nice to see it in action.   It's nice to see someone who isn't afraid to parody themselves.

Marvel has a sense of humor, and it's on full display here.   From Doctor Doom trying to get brunch - and failing - to Captain American internet dating - and also failing at that - these are cute, short stories that gently mock the Marvel Now! experience.

I only wish Marvel did these more often, as they always make me laugh.
