I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
He has newfound fame, is selling his face on everything, and the original Captain America keeps vouching for him despite Spider-Man quitting the team because he couldn't get along with Deadpool. (Although he also promised Rogue he'd nix Deadpool if she didn't agree with him being on the team. So, yeah, I could get quite angry, but I foresee Deadpool doing something to get into Rogue's good graces before that happens. Or I'm crossing my fingers.)
I also figure Spider-Man will come back because, y'know, he's supposed to be a core member of this team.
I could be wrong about these both, but those are my predictions. Still, this sets up the villain, sets up the team, and gives some nice friction to work with within the team. Which not only makes it more interesting than if everyone gets along, it also makes it something viable for long term drama, in the narrative sense.
I'm quite pleased to see this hold up so well, and I hope that it gets better in the future. Any new series, with a new combination of characters, tends to work out the kinks in how that team will work exactly. This wasn't bad, but I think part of it was setting this up and working out those kinks, and I believe as it goes on, it will get better.
That being said, this was extremely enjoyable for a number one. Marvel is just hitting it out of the ballpark all the time right now, at least for me.
