I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
The series, for some reason, grates on my nerves far more than the comic series. That saying, this is not the stuff I've come to expect from IDW. I always end up just slightly disappointed, or jaded, because their regular comics - the series and universe they created, or had people create when they got the licensing rights - is so much richer, so much fuller, so much more sophisticated.
Then again, this is based off a children's TV series, one that I felt took a serious dive in quality. The writing is much more childish, and not in a good way. While Prime was appropriate for kids, it was also sophisticated enough for adults to enjoy. This series is just dumbed down, and warps characters, and since it's supposed to be in Aligned, actually breaks continuity. Boo.
For some reason, this stings less when I'm not hearing the voice actors, though. Also, they've incorporated Ultra Magnus, and I loved him in Prime. Because I still hear his voice as Michael Ironside's, which just yes. So much yes.
Right, like things are going to coherent after I brought that up, so I'm gonna end this review with this one thought: probably only for hardcore Transformers fans, and ones who keep up with the latest series, or children.
