I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
This was well written, taut, and said something about the characters, especially those forced to make, as Cyclops points out, choices too horrible to contemplate. How far are the X-Men willing to go when the Skrulls put fifty thousand civilians into buildings and seal them? What happens when they threaten to murder all those innocent people if the X-Men don't surrender within an hour?
Well, Cyclops obviously looks for a way out, and since they're besieged by super Skrulls, they seem to have no weaknesses. Until Beast finds the most horrible solution ever, one that he considers not even mentioning to his friend. Except he does, unable to foresee what Scott will do with the information and the Legacy virus: the Pandora's box that Beast doesn't want to open once more.
I can't say enough about this writing, or the art, but as far as the writing goes? I'm not surprised that Carey wrote this. I haven't read much by him, but have been impressed by what I have read, and I've heard very good things about him.
