Ask me why /this/ volume gave me the biggest literary crush on Black Bolt

Inhuman Volume 2: Axis - Pepe Larraz, Charles Soule

Go on, ask.   It isn't that he was kidnapped by his brother, because that happened earlier.   And I knew that he was named Blackagar (although I'm now realizing I really like that name), that he couldn't speak without causing massive amounts of destruction, that he's King of Attilan, and married to Medusa.

But something went 'he's the new Deadpool in your life!' while reading this volume.   Can I figure it out?   Nope.   And I don't have quite as much of a literary crush on Black Bolt, but, yeah, I'm tracking down stuff he was in, at least the newer stuff.  I like what they're doing better in the new Marvel things, and I'm not going through another Joe Kelly's Deadpool again.

Or the Marvel Knights Ghost Rider - who I may have a literary crush on when they do him right, which they often don't, so we'll see how that goes.

Anyway, yeah, this is mostly me realizing what an awesome character they have in Black Bolt.   Not only is he isolated by his royalty - as is Medusa at times - but he needs her to speak for him.   Without her, well, he's pretty much mute.   He chooses not to speak because his words have such force that they can level everything around him; even the merest whisper causes too much damage for him to speak to anyone unless he's planning on using his voice as a weapon.

And then there's his brother, Maximus.   The relationship is delved into a little more.   Maximus is clearly not right in the head, but I don't know him well enough as a character to know if he truly cares for his brother at all.  Add Axis to this, and then Medusa has to deal with the consequences of her actions.

It's a solid collection.   And it's a shame I have to wait for more, but I do.  The ending is almost up on Marvel Unlimited, but not quite there.   I'm very eager to see where this goes.   While this does focus a lot on Medusa, and Black Bolt, the Inhumans have a large, varied, and rich cast of characters here.  I'm looking forward to see more of all of them.

But especially more of Black Bolt.
