Grimlock ♥ Ultra Magnus

I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

He is Thor!

Thors (2015-) #1 - Jason Aaron, Chris Sprouse

Just go with me, and the title to this review will make sense by the end, and it'll be worth it.  First of all, I had a hard, hard time getting into this, which is a shame.   It's very worth getting into, although not quite as squee worthy as, say, 1872.

That being said, the Thorsgaurd serve Doom.   Because in Battleworld, Doom is literally a god.   The god.    He saved pieces of world's and he rules them.   He uses the Thors, a group of those deemed worthy to wield hammers, as his law enforcement, or at least one arm of his law enforcement.    (If you think about it, Doom created the world from multiverses, each one which presumably has a Thor, and thus a Mjolnir, which Doom could have potentially taken.  Multiple hammers can be explained this way.  As can, in fact, multiple Thors as in Age of Ultron the AU companion, multiple people took up Thor's hammer after he fell.)

Dammit, Secret Wars, and knowing more about Battleworld would help so much right now!   But even without knowing that much, this is pretty self-explanatory and still a whole lot of fun.  I'm knocking down one star for being slow to start, and not giving me the feels that the other comics I've read lately have.  Also, how does one explain gods if Doom is God of this world he's created?

That being said, part of the problem is that there's lot to take in.   Like an allthing, which is a crime that requires all Thors on board.   And Thors are bothered by this: it demands their attention because they can become unworthy if they don't get answers by the time Odin, and by extension Doom, demand them.   None of them want their hammers taken away.

So when they find five women, all from different places in Battleworld, although no name, no information, they scramble to find out more about them, and why someone would kill them.   The answers?

Well, it's kinda given here.   We do find out who the women were, although not who's killing them, or why.   Although I have my suspicions, I'm often time wrong about these things, so I'm just gonna see how they play out.

Most amusing part of this?   All the alternate Thors.

Although, I dunno, Loki living in a box and rambling on about secrets and conspiracies in that hat is kinda amusing, too!
