I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.

Deadpool by Posehn & Duggan Volume 2 - Declan Shalvey, Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, Mike Hawthorne, Scott Koblish

This is my favorite Deadpool book.   Ever.

It includes The Good the Bad and the Ugly, but also has some consequences of that following up through to issue 25.   (The Good, Bad, and the Ugly storyline only goes up to issue 19.)

There are a lot of themes that are explored, and character defining moments.   I like a lot of characters, have a lot of respect for them, given what they do for Wade.

Prescott may be one of my favorite Marvel characters right now. She listens to him even when she doesn't want to, or doesn't have a choice.   Then again, she remembers this all.   She may be disgusted by some of the choices he makes, but she also knows how horribly he's been scarred, and she treats him with respect even when she's completely grossed out by what he's doing.

Yeah, I'm kinda having a girl crush on her right now, because she also calls him out on his bullshit.

She's also very concerned about his mental health, especially after North Korea.

Of course, there's Captain America and this little piece of bullshit:

When I first read this, I thought 'yay!   Wade admires Cap, so he'll listen.   He'll go see someone.  He'll actually get help.'

Except in the next panel, there's this:

Well, there goes that idea!   Of course, I'm thinking that Deadpool respects Prescott even more.   She spent all that time in his head, he gets her back to her family, and she owes him.   He trusts her with a lot of secrets.   I'm not sure how much choice he had, to a degree, because she was inside his head.   Then again, she seemed to try and respect his privacy: if he said not to go somewhere, I don't think she would have.

Then again, it's this mutual respect that makes him listen to her.   They've been more intimate in ways than anyone else he's had a relationship with.   Having her inside his head?   It got him through some tough times, and he's gotten her through them as well.

He's not right.   He's not right being alone with his head with what's happened.   But he's also got some friends willing to go to bat to him.   Prescott, and Strange, for example.

I haven't had much interest in Strange until now.   He keeps making me cry happy tears now, though.    *sniffle*

This may not be the best place to start with Deadpool.   The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is the best Deadpool story, but it's also odd.   It's not as humor filled, it's really dark, and it's more emotional than the typical Deadpool storyline.  The twelve previous issues build a far better foundation.   Start with volume one of this run is my suggestion.  There are other volumes that are appropriate, but if you've read them, great.   If not, and you want to start with the latest and greatest iteration of Deadpool, then start with issue one.
