I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
This is just as apt a title, by the way. It's sad, because I suspected there might be some misogyny, but not this much. I was also going to mention minor typos, but not make a big deal about them, but fuck that noise.
This had a good deal of typos. I'm making a big deal about it because girls can play guitar as well as boys can. So get ready for this, "Selena perks her lips..." And it's not just words, it's punctuation that is misused all throughout this book.
But there's more! Not just misogyny but ableism, specifically the use of retarded as a slur. There's homophobia, which is odd considering that Archer rides a dog-dick (colored motorcycle. Super heterosexual way to describe that, bro.) Also, when Selena says she loves Archer, this is what happens:
"Archer passes for a moment upon hearing Serena's heartfelt confession, slowly lets out a sigh, and replies, 'Selena... don't be gay.'"
Because, apparently, there is nothing more gay than a woman telling a man she loves him. Makes total sense.
This was absurd, in a way that was laugh-out-loud funny, and if it weren't so offensive I would suggest it. As it stands, only read it if you don't mind infuriating stereotypes of everyone.
