I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I've been noticing anti-feminists using the whole oppression article: feminists want to oppress them. I've been wondering if this is because they can no longer shout that a woman is a bitch or a cunt without getting called out for it, and in this case, they're ignoring the male privilege. (Which they tell us doesn't exist anyway, despite the fact that historically men have been able to make life decisions for women.)
They're ignoring a lot of the subtle, and not so subtle, ways misogyny pervades this culture to this day.
However, I'm wondering if this rally cry of 'you're oppressing me' is meant to mimic the feminists argument. If this is the case, they see themselves in the exact same situation feminists find themselves.
This mirroring situation intrigues me. I'm debating picking up The Feminine Mystique, say, and a non-fiction book about the oppression of men by an MRA - if such a thing exists - and seeing if any of my theory is correct.
Suggestions? Want to talk me out of this endeavor? Because I'm halfway to talking myself out already...
