I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I was curious. Sometimes there are vague posts and I go what kind of fuckery is floating around out there? I'm morbidly curious.
I'm not really inclined to read his books due to this response in the comments:
"Thanks for siding with me…I was afraid I was being too whiny. But when I saw that Goodreads review, I knew I had to mouth-off a little bit. The vast majority of reviewers/readers/rates are great, but–wow–this kind of review just drives me nuts!"
It was pretty whiny, in my opinion, and who is he to decide that reviews of his books are unfair, or bad? He might just be too close to the situation to tell. Regardless of if I agree with him, or any of his points, this was just in bad taste.
But he knew he had to mouth-off a little bit when he saw a review? Uh-huh, no thanks, I'm not going to risk him 'mouthing off a little' if I don't like his book, or if I write a review that he finds bad or unhelpful. Regardless of what he thinks, if the reviewer was writing for themselves of their friends, they might have found it helpful, thus it might have been completely helpful to the people they intended to help in the first place.
