I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
If only because it feels like it's going somewhere. Yes, Deadpool is irreverent and funny, but as I pointed out in a much earlier reviews, sometimes it feels like treading water. Except that the end of this seems to indicate that the plot will be going somewhere and I like that, very much.
When a demon comes knocking for Deadpool to fulfill a contract and also collect the soul of one of Deadpool's few friends, Deadpool has to fight back the only way he knows how: talking nonstop, cracking jokes, violently and unexpectedly. And he does. Even though he ultimately frees Michael's soul, his friend is less than pleased with how it was saved.
That doesn't help Deadpool with the S.H.I.E.L.D agent in his head, although Michael, who sold his soul to boost his magical powers to work for S.H.I.E.L.D, promises to come back and help Agent Preston.
Meanwhile, Agent Preston promises to help Deadpool with the memories so traumatic, he's closed them off. Which is going to be harder than it sounds because most of those memories have been stolen.
Onto volume three.
