I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
It feels like this is equalling out more; while the first issue seems to revolve around Franklin Richards, Sue and Reed's son, it actually ties into a larger story that time travel fans will enjoy. There are eight missing minutes and Reed is called to try and figure out what's gone wrong and fix it.
In the end, it takes much more than Reed to fix the problem, but he is at the forefront. He's fleshed out a little more, as we're privy to scenes from his childhood as well as scenes of him saving the day more than Sue. It's also nice to see Franklin getting involved a little, as I hadn't really thought of it until now, but in retrospect, the children have seemed to be more props than anything else in this series.
I other words, this fixed the problems, even those I didn't realize this series had. Fantastic Four still isn't ranked amongst my favorite Marvel characters, but they've got some pretty stiff competition. And I still think there are some ways this could be more dynamic. Again, I say that Johnny's growing pains are rife with possibilities for drama and tension and it's an interesting journey. I'd like to see more of this.
That being said, I've only got two more volumes of this particular series, and that's sad. I'd love a longer run of this series.
