I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
It's nice to see some diversity in Marvel movies, especially since one of the first racial-reverse roles I can remember seeing was the Kingpin. (And recently, but before the new Netflix DD came out, I was saying it would be nice to see some black allies in the Marvel universe. Black superheroes? Nice, too.)
But Marvel - cinematic, TV shows, comics? Getting a little diverse there. From Northstar tying the knot (gay marriage), Jessica Alba playing Sue Storm, a black Kingpin, a black Nick Fury, a black human torch, a black Ben Urich, and a Muslim super-lady, we're getting treated to some options that aren't all just white dudes - or ladies - saving the day. (Or, in one case, trying to crush everyone under their heels.)
I was like, wait, what? when I saw that trailer, and then I was like, they did! I almost squealed in excitement, except there were like three other people in the theater with me.
