I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Well, Atomic Robo and his action science saves the allies from Hitler's minions. I think the action scientists come later. Regardless, this is a fun romp through WWII - fun mostly because the Nazi's get their collective asses handed to them, courtesy of a snarky robot and his, ah, snarky English Sparrow. (Who used to be male. And dead.)
It's funny, it's got some, well, fake science thrown in for good measure (some of the stuff is so blatantly ridiculous that while it might be possible, not for some good centuries! Or so it seems. So it's ridiculous that it would be happening in the past, if that makes sense.) It's as funny and charming as the first volume, and the eighth, with not quite as many skipping panels, but seriously, whoever programed the Robo comics was only half paying attention. Kinda disappointing. I sent another e-mail to Comixology, and while I don't regret spending money on this, I do wish the formatting issues would be fixed. Then again, this was actually readable; the other had so many skipped panels it was so frustrating I stopped reading.
Minus one half star for minor formatting issues, and the rest of the stars are for how amazing the writing is, and how the artist manages to get Robo to look like he's twitching when he's super annoyed. I didn't think it would be possible given Robo.
He looks annoyed so... well. It's simple little touches that really make this worthwhile. And I highly suggest this, even if you aren't into robots. Er, as much as I am. It's still going to be a funny, engaging read full of sublime art.
