I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
Star-Lord, at least in this continuity, is pretty much like he is in the movies, except that he's not dating Kitty Pryde.
He's a big, lovable, hilarious dumb ass. A dumb ass who makes mistakes, and then makes himself pay for those mistakes, because underneath the booziness and humor, he's really, really sory. Really.
(Seriously, points off for spelling.)
No, in all seriousness? That mistake he made with Thanos? He feels responsible for every shitty thing Thanos has done since he let the bastard live, and he's not quite able to deal with it, at least not without the help of copious amounts of booze. He has trouble sleeping, he needs to keep moving, he gives up money that he really needs to orphans.
He also has really good taste in music, and friends, so it's kinda understandable that Kitty Pryde is not dating him. It's also adorable.
This whole volume is full of fun, funny dialogue, to die for gorgeous art, and if you like the Guardians at all? Do yourself and spend the $17 on Comixology and buy this. Now. This, and Rocket.
Also, I just realized this, but Earth-616? Coming to an end!
Sadness! If you're signed up for Guardian comics, they're ending. New ones are starting up.
Rocket turns into Groot, Guardians of the Galaxy turns into Guardians of Knowhere and Legendary Star-Lord turns into Star-Lord and Kitty Pryde. I only hope that these series will be half as fun as the current series.
Goodbye, 616! I hope your replacement continuity will be just as good. Although seeing as Avengers will be the all-female A-Force, yeah, you'll probably kick so much ass!
