I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
This is great. It's a perfect blending of history and horror. And I'm normally not a fan of stories set during any war, but I really liked this story. The war is dealt with a great deal of gravitas, but so is the horror aspect of the story; the elements are balanced out so nicely partly because they're both dealt with the same amount of seriousness.
Great characterizations, and this is mostly built on the characters. It had a sense of tension throughout that kept this compulsively readable, as well.
Loved it!
