I'm a well read grad student who's bluntly honest about all things, although I try to be most honest about myself.
I read the first issue of this, went, 'meh,' and didn't even give it another thought until I got this on sale. (To be fair to me, I thought it was another series because there are so many X-Series out, but I was glad to find out it was this.)
The art is amazing, beautiful, and very evocative. Emotive, too. Just everything I could have hoped for, and it all matches the story telling - which is a fast paced action story with moments of quiet reflection, and a whole bucket load of character development.
How do the time displaced original X-Men deal with how crappy their lives have turned out?
Oh, they're just loving that. Oh, they are dealing just fabulously. (< -- proof that we still need a sarcasm font.) And adjusting to a world that doesn't hate them is awkward, and running into some of their children, seeing themselves kissing their teachers (whom may or may not hate younger-version of them) is super confusing.
Oh, yes, this is full of both angst and humor. Very fun. I wish it hadn't ended so soon!
